Reusing & Refilling Your Glass Containers

It's encouraging to see so many brands now offering refills of popular products, this gives us an option that is easier on the planet and usually, more cost-effective.

It allows us to enjoy our most-loved products without feeling guilty about the unnecessary waste that comes with repurchasing the original packaging over and over again.

We often get asked about the perfect protocol for refilling our own products and how to best care for their permanent glass containers. To make sure the bottles (and pumps!) hold up time and time again, there are a couple of things you should know.and over again.

KEEPING YOUR THINGS WELL KEPT - our ongoing product care series.

When cultivating sustainable habits, convenience and saving money align, it's worth being celebrated.

It's encouraging to see so many brands now offering refills of popular products, this gives us an option that is easier on the planet and usually, more cost-effective.

It allows us to enjoy our most-loved products without feeling guilty about the unnecessary waste that comes with repurchasing the original packaging over and over again.

We also love to see refill/zero-waste stores popping up. Many items in our daily routine can be replaced with a more sustainable option and every little switch is a small step towards more earth-friendly living!

Our Shave Oil, Body OilHand & Body Wash and Ingrown Oil all come in durable, reusable glass bottles, designed to be reused. We offer a refill option for future purchases of these three products, saving you money and cutting down on unnecessary packaging and waste.

We often get asked about the perfect protocol for refilling our products and how to best care for their permanent glass containers. To make sure the bottles (and pumps!) hold up time and time again, there are a couple of things you should know.

First things first, it's important to note that oil-based and water-based products should ideally always stay in their respective containers. If you choose to refill a bottle with an oil-based product that previously housed something water-based, you'll want to ensure it is completely dry before refilling. Any moisture left inside could contaminate the product, and creates ideal conditions for mold growth.

Cleaning your glass containers /

Water-based (hand & body wash) :

1 / Wash your bottle with warm water, inside and out.

2 / Clean the pump using the method above!

3 / Allow to thoroughly dry before refilling. If left damp, when the pump is reattached, it will seal-in moisture and even the tiniest amount can lead to mold growth!

Oil-based (shave oil, body oil) :

1 / If you're refilling with the same oil, the best thing you can do is nothing! It might feel counter-intuitive but leaving your container as is means there's no potential for water contamination.

2 / When refilling with a different oil, wash and dry well.

Cleaning your pump /

If there are no issues, we recommend just wiping the pump head with a dry cloth every so often, to keep dirt, dust and debris at bay!

If the pump is well-loved, you may want to give it some TLC and here's how to do it:

1 / Take the pump out of the product and wash in warm water, avoid cleaning products or soap.

2 / Put the pump in a cup of warm water and pump three-four times to flush out and make sure it's clean all the way through!

3 / Lay the pump on a clean towel until it's completely dry (and remember not to reintroduce pump and product until there is no water in sight!)

When you're done /

If you choose not to refill, or you want to switch things up, we encourage you to get creative and repurpose the container!
