A

Artificial Fragrance
Due to cost, stability or unavailability of natural fragrance, most commercial fragrances use chemical equivalents. Long-term effects of mixing such chemicals are still unknown.

Animal by-products
Often cheaper than vegetable equivalents, these are used in some cosmetics, although not always identified eg. Allantoin (Uric acid from cows), Beeswax and Boar bristles.

Chamomile essential oil and/or dried flower
Chamomile is effective for moisturizing dry skin. It balances skin sebum levels, keeping the skin lubricated and moisturized, thereby preventing ingrown hairs.

Coconut oil 
Deeply penetrates the hair follicles to eradicate dryness while speeding up the skin’s healing process by softening ingrown hairs so they can easily slide out of the skin.

Frankincense essential oil
Extracted from oleo gum resin and contains antiseptic properties for protecting ingrown hair from infection.

Jojoba oil 
A liquid wax derived from the jojoba plant that mimics the body’s natural moisturizing properties to soften hair and skin. Absorbs quickly.

Lavender essential oil and/or dried flower
Skin soothing properties, assists in alleviating inflammatory skin conditions, including ingrown hairs.

Lemongrass essential oil
Useful for its antibacterial, anti-fungal, skin rejuvenating, astringent, and deodorant properties. This makes it ideal for toning oily skin and opening blocked pores, thereby preventing ingrown hair. In case there is ingrown hair, lemongrass oil keeps it infection free.

Parabens
Compounds widely used as anti-microbial preservatives. Adverse effects are inconclusive but parabens are thought to worsen Oestrogen dominance and have been found in breast tumour biopsies.
