our favourite sustainable swimwear brands

Swimsuit shopping is not our favourite, but these sustainable, eco-friendly swimwear labels make the task much easier. We’ve rounded up our top picks so you can look your best while sunbathing at the beach and swimming in the ocean completely guilt-free.

  • Londre Body Wear // @londrebodywear — ‘Keep your mind dirty & the earth clean’ — Vancouver designed, these beautifully tailored swimsuits are flattering on all body shapes and sizes. Made out of recycled fabric derived from plastic water bottles, and have the highest international eco certification, you’re guaranteed to feel your best on the outside and within.

  • Hunza G // @hunza.g London based, the production of their process begins and ends in the UK. With less than 10 talented workers behind this brand, their team is in charge of everything from sourcing fabric locally to production and everything in between. This eliminates overproducing, outsourcing, and reduces all waste without reducing the quality or cost. All excess fabric gets transformed into headbands and scrunchies, reducing any waste. What’s not to love.

  • The Saltwater Collective // @saltwatercollective — Made out of 100% regenerated Nylon from pre-and-post consumer Nylon waste from abandoned fishing nets, plastic scraps, and nylon waste from landfills. Their styles cater to all body types so no one is left in the nude. If you didn’t think they could get any better, 10% of their net proceeds go towards making the ocean cleaner. A guilt-free consumer purchase through and through.

  • Charlee Swim // @charleeswim — Made in Noosa, Australia, designed with the modern woman in mind who has a passion for sustainability.  This independent family owned business believes in transparency when it comes to their values and practices. Each swimsuit is made to order so no fabric is spared. The fabric is made in Italy from regenerated materials rescued from landfills and oceans all over the world and come packaged in compostable bags.

  • Mimi and August // @mimiandaugustMontreal based, this ethically made brand creates exclusive and affordable products without compromising the quality and living conditions of the ones who produce them.  Digital printing is used to reduce their ecological footprint, using a lot less water than sublimation techniques. Designed with every body type in mind, you will find a fit and unique print to suit your individual style.

  • Bikini Empire // @bikiniempire Founded by twin sisters, this duo has an eye for design and a humanitarian heart. Slow fashion and cute feminine prints is the name of their swimwear game. They manufacture in Bali where they pay their workers x3 higher wages than the local standard, donate 10 cents from every bikini to ROLE foundation and give their workers and their families health insurance.

  • OCIN // @ocin An eco-lifestyle swim label for the conscious and open hearted. Made out of 100% recycled polyesters from plastic bottles saved from the landfill and recycled nylon. They also created a recycling program that takes previously loved swimwear, disposes them correctly, and offers 10% off your next order as a ‘thank you’ for helping give back to the planet.
